HELLO!

Meet Emily Kasky

Emily Kaska Headshot

Originally from New York, Emily Kasky has been in law enforcement since 2012. She began her career in local corrections, working as a line officer and field training officer in a Virginia jail that housed 450 inmates and quickly moving up the ranks to shift sergeant in 2014.

Additionally, in 2015, she started working as a part-time court security officer with a county sheriff’s office.

In 2016, Emily became a general instructor and began assisting with teaching a primary jailor academy, finding her passion for passing on her knowledge and skills to future officers. While at the jail, Emily was also a booking officer and sergeant. Experience with working in the courts, booking, and in the secure part of the jail gave Emily a close look at the links between courts and corrections.

In 2021, she left the jail and became a full-time staff instructor and training coordinator at a local law enforcement regional training academy. She is also a regional Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program coordinator, a Virginia DCJS certified general instructor and an EVOC and firearms instructor. She is also a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor and trained in de-escalation and impartial policing techniques. In addition, she specializes in communications and continuing education, as she helps new and seasoned law enforcement officers excel in their career paths. She still works part-time in court services and resides in Richmond, Virginia.
