FIRST-LINE SUPERVISION

This seminar provides an extensive focus on skills and techniques that new unit supervisors might utilize in their day-to-day functions. It is designed for those officers with little or no supervisory training and who need such a program of study to effectively oversee their unit’s operation. Topics include:

(1) supervision as a management tool

(2) interpersonal communications

(3) motivation and leadership skills

(4) aspects and models for team building

(5) performance appraisal

(6) role of the supervisor as trainer and coach

(7) use of discipline as an important supervisory tool

(8) employees with problems and problem employees

(9) supervising officers from various backgrounds

(10) handling critical incidents within and outside the unit

(11) conflict resolution

DATE\LOCATION/TIME:  May 25 – 27, 2022, Cabell County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 6400 4H camp road. Barboursville WV, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily
