Statement Analysis and Review – January 11-12, 2024

This program looks specifically at the construction of written and verbal statements to identify deception omission and the veracity of a witness or suspect. This program will provide the students with a fundamental and immediately usable method of reviewing written and verbal statements. Participants will learn:

(1) the use of context when used in statements

(2) word choices when used during statements

(3) the construction of the statement

(4) indicators of deception and/or omission relating to details of a statement

(5) recognizing common phrases used by deceptive individuals

(6) dissection and identification of statements using color coding.

Students will use the practical application during the course with either course-provided statements and scenarios, or they may bring statements they are currently reviewing to the course to use during the practical exercise(s).
