K-9 UNIT MANAGEMENT: August 17-18, 2020

Announcing a seminar designed for personnel who oversee the operations of their departmental K-9 unit. The focus of this course will highlight specific aspects of the position for the unit to function in an effective and positive manner. This program is being conducted on August 17-18, 2020 and hosted by the Atlantic Cape Community College, Mays Landing, New Jersey.

K-9 UNIT MANAGEMENT

For managers in law enforcement, corrections, military, and commercial security who oversee K-9 Units. The program will be especially valuable for those who have limited K-9 management training and who want to improve the operational capability of their units. Program will introduce participants to various aspects of implementing and/or supplementing as well as establishing oversight and management of the K-9 unit.

Topics include:

• purpose and process of establishing and augmenting a K-9 unit
• identifying issues that should be included in a comprehensive K-9 policy
• various key legal issues regarding the implementing and use of K-9 units
• procedures and record keeping processes
• procedures for effective personnel selection
• use of outside consultants for personnel and manwork training
• the need for promoting the program within the community
• medical issues and health maintenance of K-9s
• methods and means of dog selection
• basic supervisory and management techniques of the K-9 Unit
• field use of K-9s

LOCATION/TIME: August 17-18, 2020, Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 East Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing, New Jersey, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily.

FEE: $295 per person.
