Announcing a seminar for the management of Florida Police Records. This seminar will be conducted by Bill May, who is recognized as a subject matter expert, and is in constant demand. This course provides information on records management and attendees will find the content readily applicable to their work assignments. This program is being conducted August 10–11, 2020 and hosted by the FDLE Operations Center, Miami, Florida.
FLORIDA POLICE RECORDS MANAGEMENT: UNDERSTANDING OF AND COMPLIANCE TO THE RULES
This program is designed specifically for Florida law enforcement personnel, whether sworn or civilian, who are assigned to the records unit within their agency. The focus of the course will relate to the maintenance of records in an efficient manner and in compliance with Florida laws and regulations. This will not be a lecture type program, rather, it will provide opportunity for participants to voice their concerns and to gain the necessary knowledge base relative to this important job function.
Topics covered will include, but will not be limited to:
- dealing with the public in terms of both public and exempt type records
- copying of records
- laws and statutes to follow in regard to the handling of your agency’s records
- resources available regarding interpretation of applicable laws
- applicable and permissible fees
- handling sealed and/or expunged records
- rules and regulations regarding retention and destruction in compliance with Florida guidelines
The program will also assist new records personnel to become acquainted with the options available to them to make their job easier and less stressful.
