Focus on the composition and writing of investigative reports. Provides a review of the specifics that reports should contain. Topics include:
(1) Identification of the essential elements of an investigative report, to include the Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How of an incident under investigation
(2) Formatting an investigative report for a clear, coherent statement of facts free from inconsistencies or contradictions
(3) Applying the appropriate resources available to produce a professional and readable report
(4) Properly cross-referencing the investigative report to related statements by interested parties and/or evidence
(5) Self-editing reports before supervisory review
(6) Supporting documents needed to clarify or amplify individual points or statements presented in the investigative report
