Announcing a seminar focusing on Call-Taker/Dispatcher Critical Incident Management. The focus of the course explores the skills and functions needed by call-takers during critical incidents. This program is being conducted October 19-20, 2020, and hosted by the Ocala Police Department, Ocala, Florida.

CALL-TAKER/DISPATCHER CRITICAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

Designed to improve the skills of call-takers and dispatchers needed to deal with life threatening emergencies, crimes-in-progress calls, officer-in-trouble, and other situations in which immediate officer dispatch to the scene is necessary.

Topics include:

• roles and responsibilities of the telecommunicator
• the basics of gathering information
• how to prepare for, gather and dispatch information to field personnel during natural and man-made disasters;
• officer safety issues
• suicide and crisis negotiations for the telecommunicator
• handling personal stress when these situations occur

INSTRUCTOR: Miles Turner, Communication Center Supervisor, Ret., Virginia State Police, Richmond, Virginia.

LOCATION/TIME: Seminar conducted October 19-20, 2020 at the Ocala Police Department, 402 South Pine Street, Ocala, Florida, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily.

FEE: $295 per person.
