A five-day team-conducted seminar is designed specifically for new criminal investigators, personnel who anticipate future criminal investigation unit assignments, and those with little or no previous formal training in the methodology and procedures involved in criminal investigations. Instructor classroom presentations, coupled with textbook readings and suggestive references, will give participants a solid foundation and understanding of basic investigative techniques and mentally prepare them for more advanced studies. Topics include:

(2) Elements of Writing Sound and Effective Reports

(3) Obtaining Information and Intelligence

(4) Canvassing Witnesses and Identifying Case Suspects

(5) Types and Categories of Death Investigations

(6) Sex Offenses

(7) Crimes Perpetrated Against Minors and Children

(8) Robbery and Burglary Investigation

(9) Property Offenses

(10) Drug Investigations
