Meet Chief Alyssa Ellison

Chief Alyssa Ellison has been in the animal care profession for more than 18 years and managed two separate animal shelters before becoming a certified law enforcement officer and animal control officer.

She is a member and field first responder for Virginia Animal Fighting Task Force. She and the task for work in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office Animal Law Unit and are responsible for large-scale seizures of various animals. The cases typically involve animal cruelty, animal fighting, livestock rescues, and roadside zoos.

Chief Ellison is certified as a Master Underwater Criminal Investigator utilized for a vehicle, evidence, body, and underwater metal detectorist. She is currently employed by the Louisa County Sheriff’s office in Virginia and is a Subject Matter Expert for Benchmark Professional Seminars.
