Advanced Crime Scene Processing – July 18-20, 2022

ADVANCED CRIME SCENE PROCESSING

This is a 3-day program with attention to body fluids and trace evidence. Topics covered include:

(1) Scientific Basis of Body Fluid Examination

(2) Blood and Bloodstains and their Collection

(3) Seminal Stains

(4) Other Types of Fluids such as Saliva, Urine, and Fecal Matter

(5) Fingerprint Recovery and Preservation

(6) Trace Evidence Associated with Clothing

(7) Recovery of the Clothing of the Victim

(8) Cloth Fragments and Impressions

(9) Threads

(10) Fibers

(11) Hair

(12) Soils, Rocks, and Minerals

(13) Debris  

Students will then apply the concepts learned in the classroom and will preserve, document, and process two (2) separate crime scenes as if they were preparing a case.

Students will be provided basic crime scene materials but are encouraged to bring their own crime scene materials that they are familiar with using or are utilized by their individual departments.
