Call Taker/Dispatcher Critical Incident Management – August 1-2, 2022

Designed to improve the skills of call-takers and dispatchers needed to deal with life-threatening emergencies, crimes-in-progress calls, officer-in-trouble, and other situations in which immediate officer dispatch to the scene is necessary. Topics include:

(1) Roles and responsibilities of the telecommunicator

(2) The basics of gathering information

(3) How to prepare for, gather and dispatch information to field personnel during natural and man-made disasters

(4) Officer safety issues

(5) Suicide and crisis negotiations for the telecommunicator

(6) Handling personal stress when these situations occur

DATE\LOCATION/TIME: August 1-2, 2022, Potsdam Police Department 38 Main St, Potsdam, NY 13676, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily.
