This course will focus on proper investigative and detection techniques for Patrol Officers and newly assigned Street Crimes Unit Officers to detect and investigate controlled substance violations encountered during street patrol.  The course will focus on the three primary situations where officers will most likely encounter narcotic violations (Field Encounters, Traffic Stops, and Surveillance Activity). Specific Topics covered will be:

(1) Constitutionality
(2) Tactical Communication
(3) Tactical Operations
(4) Contraband Identification
(5) Sources of Information
(6) Field Interview and Interrogation
