UNDERSTANDING OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES
Designed specifically for Florida law enforcement personnel, sworn or civilian, assigned to the records unit within their agency. The focus of the course will relate to the maintenance of records in an efficient manner and compliance with Florida laws and regulations. Topics covered include but will not be limited to:
(1) dealing with the public in terms of both public and exempt type records
(2) copying of records
(3) laws and statutes to follow regarding the handling of your agency’s records
(4) resources available regarding the interpretation of applicable laws
(5) applicable and permissible fees
(6) handling sealed and/or expunged records
(7) rules and regulations regarding retention and destruction in compliance with Florida guidelines.
The program will also assist new records personnel in becoming acquainted with the options available to them to make their job more manageable and less stressful.
