WEST VIRGINIA RECORDS MANAGEMENT – Understanding of and Compliance to the Rules: January 19, 2022

Designed specifically for West Virginia law enforcement personnel, sworn or civilian, assigned to the records unit within their agency. Focus of the course will relate to the maintenance of records in an efficient manner and in compliance with West Virginia laws and regulations.

Topics include:

  • dealing with the public in terms of both public and exempt type records
  • copying of records
  • laws and statutes to follow in regard to the handling of your agency’s records
  • resources available regarding interpretation of applicable laws
  • applicable and permissible fees
  • handling sealed and/or expunged records
  • rules and regulations regarding retention and destruction in compliance with West Virginia guidelines

The program will also assist new records personnel to become acquainted with the options available to them to make their job easier and less stressful.
