Advanced Crime Scene Processing: October 17-19, 2022

ADVANCED CRIME SCENE PROCESSING
This is a Three-day program with attention to body fluids and traces of evidence. The program is focused on the types of body fluids and their collection and analysis. Topics covered during this session include:
(1) scientific basis of body fluid examination
(2) blood and bloodstains and their collection
(3) seminal stains
(4) Other fluids such as saliva, urine, and fecal matter
(5) Fingerprint recovery and preservation
There will be a lecture discussion in this segment to include:
(1) trace evidence associated with clothing
(2) recovery of the clothing of the victim
(3) cloth fragments and impressions
(4) threads
(5) fibers
(6) hair
(7) soils, rocks, and minerals; and debris
Students will then apply the concepts learned in the classroom and process three (3) separate crime scenes as if they were preparing a case.
Students will be provided basic crime scene materials but are encouraged to bring their crime scene materials that they are familiar with using or are utilized by their departments.
